The La Inmaculada Credit Union Limited held its 59th Annual General Meeting at the Muliti-Purpose Complex. The eagerly anticipated event enjoyed the presence of over 1,200 shareholders and invited guests from our fellow credit union countrywide.

The staff and the volunteer officers and directors were at hand to give each and every shareholder a warm and deserving welcome. Once our volunteer shareholders had ensured that everyone had gotten their two tickets, their T-shirts, and a copy of the AGM booklet, the gathering took their seats and gave their undivided attention to the head table. As soon as the opening prayer and remarks were made, the children were invited to go to the conference room where they were entertained with games, songs and activities, at the same time sharing the credit union philosophy in a fun and entertaining setting. Joaquin’s Ice was present to give out free ice to all the kids during the Kiddies Corner Session. Adults were able to quench their thirst on the warm Sunday morning with water pouches that were being distributed.

The business session of the meeting went smoothly with the active participation and interaction between the head table and the shareholders present. The membership was informed of the representation that LICU had at the Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions in July 2007 and at the World Council of Credit Unions in August 2008. A comprehensive report of the new services, the audited financials and activities done for Credit Union Week 2007 were also shared. We had a vacancy on our Board of Director’s and Mr. Raul Cocom is our newest duly elected director.

The entire morning was a success and a great big THANK YOU goes out to all our volunteers, our Directors and Officers, our invited guests who traveled from near and far, and most of all, to you, our shareholders who as member/owners took the time to be a part of our democratic process and voted for your new director, your amendments and gave your suggestions and recommendations. The way forward is united; let us remain steadfast in our philosophy of “People Helping People to Help Themselves.”
